The India Young Professionals Scheme (IYPS) visa category is a bilateral initiative under the UK-India Migration and Mobility Partnership, allowing 3,000 Indian nationals annually to live, work, and study in the UK for up to two years. Eligibility requirements
- Age: applicants must be aged 18–30 at the time of application.
- Nationality: must hold Indian citizenship and a valid Indian passport.
- Education: a bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognised institution.
- Financial proof: savings of at least £2,530 held for 28 consecutive days prior to applying.
- Health: a tuberculosis (TB) test certificate from an approved clinic, if required.
- Ballot selection: entry is subject to a randomised ballot system due to annual quotas.
Application process
1. Ballot entry. During the announced ballot windows, applicants submit basic details (name, passport info, email) via the Home Office’s online portal. Only one ballot entry can be submitted per person — duplications will not be counted. Successful candidates receive an invitation email within two weeks, valid for 30 days to apply.
2. Visa application. If successful, complete the online application form, pay the £259 visa fee and £940 Immigration Health Surcharge, upload the required documents, and book a biometrics appointment at a Visa Application Centre.
3. Decision. The Home Office typically takes 3–6 weeks to decide. Once approved, the visa is stamped, allowing entry to the UK within 90 days.
